As a result, there is a less chance of "breathing in" the irritating, highly allergic, "acrylic" dust caused by spray buffing with conventional products. Also, the chemical make-up of this product will create less of a build-up on floor pads, and will not clog spray nozzles of trigger spray bottles. Area of Interest: Oil Burner Puffback Cleanup. Soot and carbon deposits are spread throughout your house, especially on ceilings and walls. Benefits: practically removes accumulation of soot and carbon deposits easily and effectively. "Soot" is mainly carbon particles formed by the incomplete combustion of burning matter. The best way to remove soot is through a "dry method" instead of using a cleaner which will liquify it. Liquification will spread the problem beyond your imagination. India ink, one of our most permanent dyes, is just ground carbon black carried in a liquid solvent medium. Additionally, soot is sticky so do not try to rub it away with a rag since you will only smear the surface. The first step in soot removal is careful planning. Surroundings below affected area should be covered and protected with a dropcloth or newspapers for easy disposal. Old clothes, eyeglasses or goggles, a hat, and a paper respirator (available at hardware store) should be worn. Trash bags should be in strategic places. Preparing your area for removal is as important as the removal itself. The next step is to vacuum the affected area, most preferably with a H.E.P.A. filter vacuum cleaner. If you just have a regular tank vacuum, be sure that you have several disposable paper vacuum bags on hand. Keep the vac tool about a 1/4 from the surface so you do not scratch the surface or smear the soot. In the event that you do not have a vacuum, dust or sweep the surface with a stiff bruff with a quick "flicking" action. Once again, be sure to cover underneath areas so you do not transfer one problem onto another. After the first round of vacuuming , repeat the vacuuming procedure BUT this time remove the vacuum tool and place the mouth of the hose right up against the surface, especially difficult stained areas. Work in small manageable areas, working the hose in a circular fashion. Try not to drag the hose across the area so use clean, quick flicking motion. After 2-3 vacuumings, go on to next step. After vacuuming, the surface must be treated with a dry "chemically-treated" soot sponge. This sponge is designed to be used to dry clean the surface with each one of its faces (front, back, 4-sides). Just wipe it over the surface in 2-4 feet lengths.The sponge will absorb the soot as you work and begin to get black. Once the sponge becomes filthy, you cannot wash it with soap and water. It is NOT designed for that process and you will upset the effectiveness of the sponge. Instead, cut away a thin layer of sponge with a razor blade and expose a new face. Eventually, you will get the surface clean and whittle the sponge away to nothing. Professional fire restoration companies use these type of sponges in their work. A "Soot Sponge" is a 2" x 3" x 6" chemically treated sponge used on spot and smoke damage. It scoops up soot and dirt into pores of this special function sponge. "Soot Sponges" must be used dry for cleaning walls, vents, ceilings, and in fire restoration." SEE 'SOOT SPONGE' BELOW UNDER 'S' Next, prepare a giant "lint" brush by purchasing a paint roller and 2-face adhesive masking tape from a hardware store. Wrap the tape around the paint roller several times starting and one end and finishing on the other; and working yourself back to the starting point.The face of the roller should be "sticky" if you have done this properly. Work the roller back and forth. Hopefully, any excess soot should stick to the tape for easy disposal. Before you proceed to the next final step, most of the soot should be removed by the procedures up to now. Finally, clean surfaces with "ULTIMATE" - our Ready-to-Use 'NATURAL' Super-duty Cleaner/Degreaser . Spray solution onto surface, allow to set for several minutes, and scrub surface with a "green" scrub pad or soft nylon brush. Allow to dry. Repeat this process several time if not satisfied with results. Once completed, polish surface with a clean, lint-free terry cloth towel. |
